Since 2004, the Bozeman Sunrise Rotary Club has hosted an annual night golf event that brings together the business community for an enjoyable night of fine dining, libations, prizes, golfing skills competitions and tournament play. In this, our just-completed 6th year, the "Golf in the Dark for East Gallatin Park" event was hosted at the Riverside Country Club course on Saturday August 1st and featured our theme - James Bond - 007! Congratulations to 2009 team winners, Bacterin International.
Our theme for 2009 was 007 - James Bond and took place Saturday, August 1st. Our extra special guest was actor Richard Kiel, who played the popular villain 'Jaws' in the Bond classics, "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "Moonraker".
What is the Sunrise Rotary Night Golf event? It provides for 36 teams of 4-golfers each to play a 5-hole round in the dark using glo-balls, night glo-sticks and an occasional flashlight for lighting. Teams begin match plan around 9:15pm after having enjoyed a previous cocktail hour and pre-event banquet. Each golfer receives a "Night Golf Survival Kit" which offers a variety of event items, commemorative memorabilia and useful gear for the night's competition.
Since this is a fundraising event, net proceeds are used to help our club in its mission to enhance Bozeman's East Gallatin Recreation area off East Griffin Drive, as well as support other local and international charitable projects initiated through Rotary International.
