Beginning in the early 1990s, as the Bozeman Sunrise Rotary Club was being formed, club members took on the daunting task of cleaning up and renovating a section of Gallatin County just off Griffin Drive near the East Gallatin River.
Long known as an unofficial dump site, Rotarians had a vision - to transform what was a community eyesore into what is now a community asset - now used by tens of thousands of individuals and families each year. Over a 15-year period, Rotarians - with the assistance of the Bozeman City Council, Parks & Recreation Department, Gallatin Valley Land Trust, Montana DEQ, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, and other supportive parties - have created picnic areas, built covered pavilions, added a sandy beachfront, helped build parking areas and park benches, helped to build bridges over water hazards on the local bike & pedestrian trails, and in 2007-08, will be completing the first restroom, changing room and concession stand on the property.
Our commitment thus far has been thousands of manhours and tens of thousands of dollars toward the realization of our vision. If you would like to contribute even a small amount toward the completion of our new restroom facility, you can do one of two things:
- Become involved in our Night Golf Tournament or Sweepstakes Raffle
- Buy a commemorative Brick for $100 with your name permanently inscribed into the restroom wall. To learn more about this option, visit our club website at BozemanSunriseRotary.org and click the story called "Buy a Brick for Rotary Restroom Project"
